did stuff with houseplants

I've actually had this in mind for a long time. My tall, leggy dracanea in the corner I felt needed a larger pot, but it's behind a bunch of stuff so I have put off doing that for months. Yesterday moved the plant benches so my husband could access some cables, and then took the opportunity. Repotted the dracanea:
Yes it's almost touching the ceiling. Soon I will have to decide if I'm going to re-home it to someone who has higher ceilings, or take the risk of cutting and replanting the top. Doubtful if I would succeed with that.
Then I took it's old pot, and repotted the asparagus fern into that
It was quite root-bound, many circling the inside of the pot, and when I untangled, tons of those fat bulbs that store water hanging down
It's been looking rather pathetic lately, fronds only on one half of the pot, and they keep turning brown or yellow. I'm probably doing something amiss with the watering, or it needs better light, or more misting . . .
But I hope it perks up from this
While I was in that corner, I saw my 'ponytail' succulent was looking bad, too- tons of withered, dropped-off leaves. I cut all the best pieces out, stripped the lower stems, dumped most of the soil and replaced with cactus mix, repotted anew the cuttings. I think I just forgot to water it too often, over the winter months.
And replanted into my zebrina pot, its cuttings I'd rooted in water over the past few weeks.
Next to pot up some coleus cuttings of my favorite.

how are some houseplants

Looking at the group I bought during covid times. Most of them are doing well- in fact, the tiny-leaved 'wandering dude boliviana' is doing fantastic!
It's grown so much.
All the younger angelwing begonias are doing well, too.
Except the one with glossy leaves (richmondensis) got very leggy and keeps leaning. I trimmed it and moved to a brighter spot. Put the cuttings in water just in case they root.
The older begonia still has that second shoot coming up in the pot. It's taller, but no leaves yet.
Next to it, the rubber plant doesn't look so great.
And 'friendship' pilea is struggling, so I relocated it as well.
And the pilea peperomioides faltered a while back- all the smaller leaves at crown were looking dark and wilting. I think I had overwatered it. I let it dry out for over a week, then watered sparingly again.
Seems okay now- new leaves are growing again and they look fine.
Not so keen on the coleus 'inky fingers' anymore.
It just doesn't compare at all to my dark velvety one (dang, where is that plant label? I think it was called 'black witchy' or something) which is still so stunning
I kept it all season as a grand houseplant.
Swiss cheese monstera has more new leaves.
Very funny how the new ones grow out all tightly rolled up and then unfold. \
Crown of thorns seems to have finished blooming for now. The flowers finally turned all solid pink, and a few days after I took a photo, started to wither.

the big sideyard

I have to differentiate the two. The first sunny sideyard, which is narrower, I think of it as the smaller one. And the second sunny sideyard, which was in shade before we had those huge maples cut down, is wider and more open, so I think of it as the bigger one. I spent half a day out there, pulling crabgrass and the worst of the weeds. Left some things alone, like the wild violets
Found a few bugleweed (ajuga) that survived the tree-cutting
Yanked out a bunch of wild rose that was all tangled behind the beautyberry (those thorny stems had grown a lot thicker with more sun) and now it looks so nice! Anticipating the purple berries
Lungwort also impressed me how much it grew!
Ostrich ferns are doing way better now, too.
And the sensitive ferns seem to be reviving from the heat, and the bugs-
there's new fiddleheads under there
My shady 'purple corner' looks promising- I need more persian shield!
I like how the wandering jew has done, need more of that also!
Spiderwort is blooming again- floating above the green

things happening among the plants

My 'Lavendar Magic' african violet bloomed and it is so pretty.
The runners on my plain spider plant have tiny babies now, and another one is sprouting.
The 'wandering dude' plant (haha) is growing upwards against the window- I am wondering at what point the stems will become too heavy for themselves and fall over to make the trailing habit.
Outside I thought the sweet peas were done since I left some pods to go to seed, but there's another round of flowers blooming.
Zucchini and the others in the melon bed are getting big fast, so I hope I actually have a decent amount this year.
The unknown plant in my garden is getting huge- it's up to my hip now. And cardinal climber behind it have wound all the way up the trellis, so lovely, but I still haven't seen a hummingbird visit.
Some of the rumex I moved look shabby, but others are growing new leaves!
Monarda and echinacea are blooming-
Cicada noise is diminishing, and though the oaks and maples have lots of "flagging" with dried leaf bunches hanging down, all my smaller shrubs seem okay- even the youngest rose of sharon
and the two-year-old ones- have taken no harm.
Summersweet-
Bay laurel-
Oakleaf hydrangea- all okay!
Daylilies are blooming on the top of one sideyward by the driveway,
and on the opposite side, turtleheads are making a nice thicket,
and gladiolas coming up strong- though I do need to go out and pull some weeds
