some of my housplants-

Madagascar palm seems happy
Medinilla (maybe, still not sure of this one's identity) Velvet Philodendron
At least it's doing well now, and I've finally found a trailing plant that likes the mantlepiece spot!
Had this pothos for a long time- it still lives in a water bottle SIP
Other pothos on top of the aquarium-
Almost forgot the philodendron is back here, too- what do you know, it's grown a few new leaves
My little thanksgiving cactus is getting a bit bigger!
And this blue-grey succulent I sure like but can't name- my latest guess is sedum palmeri or sedum compactum ..?
the rounder, paler crassula (at least I think that's what it is) just got pinched again-
and wow, look at my plant that grew from a single leaf!
Suddenly the new leaves have shot taller. I swear it's a sansevieria!
In the sansevieria pot by the fish tanks, the younger leaves are now taller than the older ones:
My little goldfish plant in the bedroom is blooming!
I don't know who thought these little odd flowers look like fish. But my eight-year-old thinks it's cute.
Lipstick plant still no flowers. It's grown, though. Its leaves are twice the size of the goldfish plant's, and straighter.
That's nearly all of them now, in the photos I took today and yesterday. I think the only plants I didn't photograph were the dracanea (corn plant) and the large schefflera

velvet philodendron regrowing

The medinilla velvet philodendron seems to like its spot on top of my mantlepiece. It still looks thin, but is sprouting a lot of new leaves if I look close
and the mature leaves are keeping their health
I think I've rescued it!

indoor plants

I did a count, just for the fun of it. My living room with the large sliding door has thirty pots of plants. Front room has seven, dining room twelve, bedroom upstairs nine. Basement window has four. That's sixty-two plants in the house! (Counting containers, not individuals). Of course, many of these will move out onto the deck once warmer weather comes.

Here's some pics. The main window spot. Coleus exhibition limelight, unnamed blue-green succulent, kalanchoe, baby jade of some kind, unknown leaf, thanksgiving cactus starts, zebrina draping over the background, sweet potato peeking up from below.
Something's amiss with kalanchoe- lower leaves are yellowing, argh.
Every time I look at the blue-green succulent, it seems to have grown a bit more!
the zebrina is happy in this spot-
but where its stems get hit by direct light they are washed out and discolored
I have another small pot of its cuttings in a different room corner, not as happy. Leaves are pale, dull color, a bit curled. Not sure why. Going to move its location.
Creeping charlie scion on the same table likes the low light, though. This is the one I recently potted up.
Also on this table is a spider plant I butchered. It was looking so pale and droopy in my bedroom window, I thought it needs less light and moved it down here, drastically cut off all its pale hanging sad foliage. To my surprise it is reviving- new leaves!
The older spider plant is doing really well in its new spot, too- I finally figured out what I've done wrong by this plant all along. They need to avoid any direct sunlight. This one is standing taller, leaves have better color. Only one of the three individuals in this pot is still a bit pale.
Goldfish plant continues to look great suspended in the window. It even has a few new leaves.
Smaller pot of medinilla velvet philodendron also looks very nice, on the high corner of my bookshelf. The larger pot of it, on the mantle in the living room, is starting to grow back, but I didn't get a photo of it.

velvet vine from the closet

My daughter gave me her medinilla velvet philodendron plant, which needed a bit of TLC-
I cleaned up, gave it a good long drink
and then decided to take a ton of cuttings:
Let's see how it does with a fresh start. It looks sad and sparse right now, but has plenty of new, pale green shoots.

a few of my houseplants

medinilla velvet philodendron
younger pot of creeping charlie
'lipstick' plant still hasn't given me any lips- but it's growing nicely
'goldfish' plant quit after making five flowers, and now is growing leggy. I hope it starts to drape gracefully, or I might need to find a brighter location for it.
Older spider plant got displaced by boston fern which came in the house- it always has a droopy, unhappy appearance no matter where I move it to or how I change the watering... . . .
Its sibling on top of the bookshelf in my room looks quite a bit happier.
Here's the fern. It did great outside the summer.

more little houseplants

Last month visited a beautiful public garden with my sister and mom. At the gift shop I dithered a long time but finally bought two small houseplant starts: 'goldfish plant'
the flowers supposedly look like fishes-
and 'lipstick plant' which will have similar flowers, but red.
My small medinilla velvet philodendron is finally showing some growth.

some houseplants

mimosa keeps growing lovely new fronds. But lower leaves slowly yellow and drop, as well.
Kalanchoe are starting to populate neighboring pots with their babies, dropped off the leaf margins. I need to give these larger pots themselves, soon.
Philodendron Micans in my upstairs window is starting to look a bit healthier- at least, this one stem of it.
I thought zebrina was supposed to be a vine that drapes down, suitable for hanging pots. Mine is growing up and up!
