in addition

to the shrubs, yesterday I bought a few more perennials for the shady sideyard. Two stinking hellebores (literally, their scientific name is Helleborus foetidus)
I like that the leaf shape is so different. And the flowers will be green.
And two of this plant called Lady's Mantle (Alchemilla mollis)
I just really like the foliage. It reminds me of geranium, is my favorite a pale bluish shade, and water beads up on it- like nasturtium. Charming!
Two new houseplants:Aglaonema- a chinese evergreen (related to arum)
and my absolute favorite of the day- a scented geranium that's pale blue
has tiny white flowers (that attracted a tiny bee-like fly five minutes after I put it on the deck table)
and pretty leaves with fine hairs- very soft, velvety texture.
It's so lovely - on the deck next to cuban oregano- I moved some stuff on my kitchen windowsill to have a good view of it while washing dishes.
It has a lemon scent. I'm suddenly very taken with the idea of getting more scented geraniums- there are vareties that smell like peppermint, chocolate or roses. There's a spicy one, too. I'm just short on window space for winter light...
