Two of my baby trees are alive! I though they were all dead, with their twiglike appearance, and thinking about clearing the spot for melons. But now the crabapple has leaves coming out on every side
and the crape myrtle two small leaves, one on each side of its stem a space apart. I could not get a good photo of that no matter how hard I tried, it kept blurring out they were so small.
Sadly, the crape myrtle bush I tried to move is, I think, dying. Still no leaves have appeared, and when I scratch a fingernail of bark now, it's a faded green, not the bright vivid of before.
But its scion, the small piece that broke off the base, is flourishing. I didn't give that one all the mulch and compost. Go figure. It's hard to see against the green grass
so here's an up-close of the foliage.
And just 'cause this post is featuring trees, here are the two little plants Isa grew from seeds of an apple she ate.
The older one is getting nice, big leaves. I'm starting to wonder what to do with it. There's really no space in my yard for an apple tree to grow full-size...
