bitten petals

The other day I pulled up all my zinnias. Took a few last cut flowers for in the house.

They are rather shabby. Many bitten petals-

and a cucumber beetle hiding among them. There are lots of these on my tithonia now and I've even found one on a marigold, so they are getting closer to the garden- urgh. Every morning when it's cooler I go out and look through all the tithonia blooms, to pinch the cucumber beetles while they are slow. They have ruined my garden plants in the past.
