Yesterday was all about bamboo. Found someone in my neighborhood who has it growing (unwanted) on the back of their property. Last year I cut down about thirty trees, this year I cut down the entire grove. It took three carloads to get it all home, but this time I hope I won't run short before end of growing season. It is going to be a lot of work to shred this much by hand- yesterday I cut all the branches off the poles, and stripped enough to cut leaves for a few garden beds. First they got some compost
then the bamboo mulch- nice and thick- it will dry to tan pretty quick
I didn't have enough to do more of the in-ground beds right now, but mulched the planters on the deck first- (they dry out quicker). Parsley:
Chervil:
Dill- already been eating some:
also the pots of mint
and stevia- between the red of the deck boards and grass green of the plant, the half dried bamboo looks blue!
I took this closeup pic of stevia the day before, no mulch yet
Edit add: there were lots of bits scattered all over the car after I hauled bamboo yesterday. My kid got in to go to school and exclaimed: "What happened to the car!? It looks like Nature barfed all over the place!" Funny. My husband chuckled "Nature did barf all over the place."
