beaten

My garden got flattened by all the heavy rain, and more ruined by bugs or disease again. I've pulled out all the green beans, the cucumbers (great while they lasted), the sweet peas (done anyway) and potatoes (looked horrid). Moved some planter boxes and potted marigolds, mints, over the bare spots in the raised beds.
at least I have great-looking carrots! Time to pull some. Ate half the beets- the roots were small (but tasty) the greens pretty good cooked with some garlic and pepper.
Sensitive fern is overtaking the spot that had my swiss chard.
Turtlehead is blooming. Looks much better in person than this hurried picture, I'll try for another soon. The garden patch is in full bloom, the one near front yard with salvia around a tree is budding, the one farthest into shade near back perennial bed, has just started to bed.
I love the rue, even though I have no use for it yet. Gorgeous blue color. My pink cosmos all collapsed in the rain and I propped them up out of the path half-over the rue plant, then realized it made a nice contrast of colors.

Stevia has done so much better for me this year. I'm about to cut and dry a third harvest of it. I don't even use it for coffee much anymore, but am starting to experimenting with using it as substitution for sugar in my baking.
Farther off- rhubarb looks pathetic, iris seems really happy outside, patch of nicotiana keeps growing, but no sign of blooms, I wonder if they will at all.
