expansion

I'm making more garden space. Cobbled together again, actually using materials I pulled off the beds last year when I redid the edges with concrete blocks. It's all I have on hand, don't want to go buy new materials right now. Oh well. Outlined:

Filled with sticks. I read about hugels recently. Not really doing that method, but it made me realize I could use wood as some fill.

Over that I spread cardboard chips

then the bottom of last year's compost pile.

It didn't go very far. I will still have to buy many bags of soil, and mulch thickly. Glad that my husband has no complaints about paying for dirt.

Here the new beds are in the background- it's wrapping all around the deck in an L shape.
