wheel bug

I found a wheel bug! On my window screen. At first glance I thought it was a leaf-footed bug again, but looked closer and saw the curious structure on its back, shaped like a cogwheel. I ran outside with the camera to get a few closeups before it moved off.

I knew wheel bugs live in Virginia, but I have never seen one before.

This is a great bug to have in the garden, it eats other bugs- even things bigger than itself. It eats stinkbugs!!
