First pic of a butterfly this year! on monarda leaf

I think I identified it as the eastern-tailed blue butterfly

Also I was admiring this cranefly on the siding

the delicacy of its wings. First time I ever noticed those structures below the wings- which are called halteres. They're flight stabilizers!
