mayapples

I'm so glad a few survived when I once dug them up to give away- now I seem to have just as many as I started with!

It's one of the plants I love to watch emerging in spring- they rise up with the leaves tightly furled-

and then gradually

unfold

to the full umbrella shape.

Glad I took the trouble to move my leaf mulch pile this spring- the mayapples were behind it, and I might have not noticed them yet.
