I lost some of the solmon's seal I planted new in spring, and the ones remaining haven't grown much.
Liriope and hellebores doing great.
More shade plants in the back of the perennial bed. The younger heartleaf brunnera are reaching mature size, I'm glad to see. Also pictured here- liriope, hellebores, and a bright hosta in the rear.
I have not given the plants back here any attention all summer (weeding, mulching or watering) so it's a nice surprise that the limelight coleus have survived.
Nearby, the 'wizard' one isn't doing as well, some of them have died- here embarassingly surrounded by weeds.
And it looks like I lost my false indigo plants. This is what's left:
The purple salvia is next in line under bug attack:
Disappointing, but not surprised as I neglected to feed them or spray the bugs. I did water them a few times, so they did marginally better than the others in the back.
If they survive the winter, I must do better by them next year.
On a better note, turtlehead patch by the garden is looking fantastic. Had a bunch of mealy bugs on them and leaf hoppers, but those have nearly disappeared since I've been throwing dishwater over the garden every day. Turtlehead patch gets a lot of that.
