more seedlings up!

Dill has sprouted in my seedling tray. Also leaf beet chard, more saved red marigolds, more leeks (half that tray now) and the chervil (which I saved seed off last year's plant). I'm so pleased. I was wondering why I seem to have a better germination rate this year. I thought it was just because I bought new seed, it's more vigorous or something. But some of my seed is older, or I saved it myself. I did try to be a little more conscientious with the sowing process- making sure the trays were well soaked first, pressing the seedless mix down very firmly over the seed, shielding the newly sprouted seedlings from chill when I carry them in and out of the house to the coldframe. I think it's paying off!
