obedient pink

My obedient plants on the larger sideyard are flowering! And they're actually quite attractive. I hope this group spreads.
I did a lot more work outside today, even ended up with some blisters. I raked some of the first fallen leaves, added half to the compost heap and used others to mulch the blue hosta, the canna lilies, small azaleas and some joe pye weed 'chocolate'. Pulled weeds on the larger sideyard, dug up sensitive fern that was growing into the walking space, and replanted them in another spot further down the yard. Cut back some of the yellow salvia there, too. Roughly pulled out mock strawberry against the wall and scattered joe pye seedheads in the area, just in case they might grow, and be tall against the house. Might be too shady for them here, though.

Cut more old flowerheads off the joe pye on the smaller sideyard, because I don't want them spreading further over there. I cut back the black and blue salvia too, just in case it might rebloom. One of the plants. If it does, I'll cut back the other as well. Trimmed back some of the shiso that flopped over.

Dug and moved a few ajuga.
Pulled weeds from under the dill patch.
Yanked out weeds around the blue sage, and propped it up, and mulched with dead leaves, and scattered spent seedheads between the two plants- hoping for more next year.

Pruned some branches out of one pannicle hydrangea the deer have eaten all the foliage off the side so I can see straight through the branches and some were crossing each other, rubbing which can cause issues later I think.

Picked up branches fallen in the yard from the last few storms, broke them up for the wood pile, and sawed the bigger ones into smaller pieces.

Screwed some eye hooks into supports under the deck to tie up the corners of the tarp over my woodpile and keep it dry better.

Trimmed sedums against the edge of the front walkway by the door.

And by the time done with all that, I was tired and hot and sweaty. I could see ten or twenty more tasks to do, but that was enough for now!
