It takes a walk around the yard to see things that are just beginning to poke out of the ground. Like this one leaf of cranesbill (wild geranium) I found just under the leaf litter (the other plant shows no growth yet)

or this bit of ruffled foliage that must be a columbine 

Monarda is coming up all over in the back perennial bed

I haven't yet cut down the dried stems and flowerheads of last year's sedums, but new spring growth is showing

and the shorter sedums around the stump out front are greening up too

In the mostly-empty mailbox spot, the rumex which has looked half-dead and shabby all winter, is starting to show its colors

It's kind of annoying to take photos of some things right now because the mulch from our tree that got cut down is still fresh and pale- making an odd backdrop. But the tulips are rising

and lamb's ears on the sideyard look remarkably nice

Here's daylilies coming up

and those wild daisies I moved to grow alongside a stepping stone path

the arum is coming up really thick

and there's this unfamiliar plant around the camellia- I think it might be honeysuckle?

In most areas under the trees, both the older and newer plantings of bugleweed are still here- although some have gotten a bit smothered by the new mulch, or stepped on. I'm hoping for a good show of flowers from them soon.

There's no sign of my lovage or heartleaf brunnera yet, which I keep checking for because I need to dig and move them.
