lettuce and coleus

I made the first garden salad earlier this week.

I ate my extra lettuce seedlings that weren't going into the garden (not enough room).

It was a small handful of fresh greens added to a bigger mix from the store- but soon I hope there will be majority the other way.

In place of the lettuces, I planted those paper pots with coleus cuttings. They've grown plenty of roots in their jars of water!

In a week it will be warm enough (I hope) to safely put these in the ground, and in planters on my deck for some pretty summer foliage.
