I've improved the look of my 20gal simply by changing the background. It's a temporary fix. I found a piece of cardboard long enough to fit all across the back in one piece, and colored it black. Will get proper background panel later. Still working on the health of my plants.

Edit 2/10- Systematically went through all the settings on my camera to find best one for tank shots. It comes out better if I: wait until after dark, prop the camera on something, use macro setting, white balance in one of the flourescent settings with "evaluative light metering" on (it adjusts brightness to overall scene). Here's so I don't forget.
