I have done it. Cut the top off my Avocado plant. It was getting very tall with tons of new rapid growth (all straight up) and starting to flop over. It's kind of a shame to see all the beautiful blue-green leaves discarded
but perhaps it will finally branch? Here's how the plant looks now:
It's about three years old now.
I cannot imagine how hard that must have been for you! But I bet it pays off :) I have two pits that I've just started!! Can't wait to see if they achieve the status of this some day :)
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking about it for a long time and finally just decided to do it. Was encouraged by seeing how my friend's schefflera sprouted new stems all over when he finally cut the growing ends off. I'm hoping this encourages it to branch!
