red and orange

I dug up half my Carrot spot today
to save in the fridge
We ate another bunch of Beets yesterday, still very tasty! Only a few small ones are left, out there next to the carrots. They're all well tucked-in with dry grass clippings, to hold moisture from escaping in the heat.

  2. wow, those carrots look so fantastic Jeane :D I just planted a bunch of carrot seeds but nothing has come up yet...I'm thinking that maybe I shouldn't have planted them now? I like to pretend I know what I'm doing, but really I don't :p

  3. Hm. Well, carrots like cool weather, that's why I'm trying to get all mine out of the ground now. They might taste yucky bitter, we'll see. So I don't know if they'll sprout when it's hot. Also, the seed casings are hard or something- I usually pour boiling water over my seeds right after planting them, that helps them germinate. Otherwise they take forever to come up!

  5. Yay! They do look just like grass when they're little, don't they? My first year I think I made the mistake of pulling some out before I realized they were actually baby carrots.
