zucchinis!

A hot day is not the best for transplanting, but Zucchinis are pretty hardy plants. I waited until the afternoon when it was cooler. Turned my compost pile today, and the bottom half was all great- nice dark, crumbly stuff very easy to shovel. I fed all the garden plants with it, and had two buckets left over for when the corn and melons go into the ground.

These Zucchinis were really outgrowing their pots

and especially the ones crowded in the tray

so they got put into the garden. I didn't dig into the soil, but instead made a hill of pure compost and scooped out the middle like a little squat volcano.

The plants went into the hills, two apiece.
I'm going to plant Nasturtiums among them, like last year.
