Now we're eating Romaine Lettuce in our salads, as it's the last still leafy in the garden.
And I picked my first Cauliflower head!
It wasn't very big- about the size of my fist- and the head had already begun to lengthen a bit into little florets instead of a tight clump, (as you can see in this rather awful photo I tried to take closeup)
but wow the flavor was fantastic, just lightly steamed and salted with a bit of cheese shredded on top.
Oh wow! The cauliflower AND the lettuce both look delicious! I'm definitely going to try my hand at lettuce next year..still may do some spinach this year...they say you can do that pretty much whenever down here. We'll see!
ReplyDeleteYou have to tell me if you discover any spinach secrets! I've tried three times to grow it, and it always fails. Either it doesn't come up, or it gets eaten right away by the slugs...
