herbs for the kitchen

I'm putting some planter boxes on the deck railings- to save space, they hang on the outside edge. Deck surface will be for tomatoes and peppers in pots, most of the other large garden plants will go in the plots down on the ground. I set aside one planter box for herbs, to keep them close to the kitchen. The rest will be decorative with sweet potato vine and nasturtiums.

They are still in paper pots, but I pinched off a bit of summer savory to flavor some eggs the other day. The kids loved it!
