pest and predator

I've noticed the past week or two that some pepper plant leaves were getting munched, and fat caterpillar frass on the leaves. But I couldn't find the caterpillar. Its coloring so cryptic! I finally discovered it yesterday- but didn't squish or give to my kid to play with. Because it was already dotted with wasp eggs, so I know this caterpillar will die and host baby wasps to eat other caterpillars next year.
I had to look up similar picture on my blog from years ago- it's probably another tomato hornworm. I cut the pepper stem the caterpillar and wasp eggs were hanging on, and stuck it down in the garden bed (because I'm going to try and overwinter this pepper plant indoors).
